Mirko Filipovic will face off against Patrick Barry in a heavyweight bout on Saturday at UFC 115 in Vancouver. These two fighters will match up with high expectations.
At Patrick Barry’s last fight he was the most impressive fighter to be seen at UFC 104. In his fight he earned the “Fight of the Night” award and also the “Knockout of the Night” award. He really showed up at his last fight and he will be watched closely by a lot of fans as he takes the ring again.
Barry is 5-1 in his career up to this point, and is not an extremely experienced fighter. This will be an advantage for Mirko Filipovic in this fight. Martial arts are becoming all the rage throughout the world. Depending on which part of the world you are in, you will come across all different kinds of fighting styles. One unique fighting method is that of Arnis Stick Fighting. This fighting style comes from the World Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation (WEKAF), and originates from Cebu, Philippines. The Federation was started in 1989 and was originally meant to help get the word out about Filipino martial arts.
Arnis Stick Fighting, or Eskrima, was originally created by a Grandmaster named Dionsio Canete. He, among others, created rules for this fighting style to help create some organization. Basically, they follow the 10 point “Must System” that is also used in the sport of boxing. All fighters are required to wear padded protectors for their heads and bodies, and also some guards for their arms and hands.
The weapon of choice is the ratten stick that is 28 inches and weighs around 200 grams. The target areas is above the knees, with all attacks having to involve the sticks (except for thrusting). There is no punching, kicking, throws, elbows, or knees allowed in the sport.

Amir Sadollah, UFC betting lines favorite, boasts a record of 3-1 and is the winner of Ultimate Fighter 7. Since then he has kept himself out of the mat because of the multiple injuries and not allowed him to take many fights. Efrain Escudero and Dan Lauzon will square off at UFC 114 on May 29th. This fight should bring a lot of excitement as there have been rumors of this fight taking place for months now.
Efrain Escudero had suffered an elbow injury in the course of his loss against Evan Dunham in the beginning of the year. This injury had a lot of people wondering when Escudero would be able to return to the ring. The MRI results on the elbow look good and he is now ready to take on Lauzon.
Escudero sports a 12-1 career record in mixed martial arts. His first loss ever was his last fight in which he sustained the elbow injury. Now that Escudero is healthy he looks to bounce back from his first career loss against Dan Lauzon, who has struggled in the UCF so far.

On May 29, at UFC 114, the undefeated heavyweight Todd Duffee will return to the cage to fight another up and coming heavyweight in Mike Russow. The fight is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
Todd Duffee is an American Top Team heavyweight and first came into the UFC at the UFC 102 fight in 2009. Duffee is 23 years old and has an impressive record of 6-0 in his career. He is a heavy hitter and has finished all of his fights by way of technical knockouts.

On May 29 at UFC 114, the much-hyped fight between Forrest Griffin and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira will no longer be taking place. Due to a shoulder injury, Griffin announced that he had to abruptly pull out of the fight. Hours after that announcement, with less then four weeks until the fight, Jason Brilz stepped up and agreed to take the fight against Noguiera. There has been a solid agreement and a verbal agreement between each camp to the fight will come shortly. The UFC lines are abuzz with this upcoming fight.
In the octagon to Eliot Marshall, UFC 103 showed Brilz his first loss. Brilz was on an impressive streak of 13 straight wins before that defeat. Defeat, however, didn’t last long for Brilz. Lyoto Carvalho Machida was born May 30, 1978. He is a Japanese Brazilian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter from Salvador, Brazil and is the current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and a favorite fighter in all UFC lines. Lyoto Machida is 6ft 1 inch with a 74 inch reach and is known as “The Dragon”.
He earned his black belt at the age of 13. He also started training the art of Sumo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at age fifteen, at the age of twelve. He won the 2001 Pan American Karate Tournament and other amateur karate tournaments
